March mood board: boost your marketing strategies this month!

Have you seen mood boards on your social media feed lately?

They’re a popular form of content layout and presentation that helps creative professionals come up with new ideas for their job. It also helps clients have a better overall sense of how the creator intends to develop the project.

Mood boards can also be used for decorative purposes: they go well with interior design, making a nice composition in your office, for example, if you’d like to be constantly inspired by possible ideas that might pop up from your personalized collage.

Remember vision boards? They’re quite similar, but the latter is usually more personal and goal-oriented.

If you think you need to be a professional designer or artist to make your own mood board, you should change your mind right now! There are several apps with free templates that you can use and change as much as you want!

And of course, you can totally craft your own physical mood board by cutting out images from magazines or books and using a variety of art supplies to make your own composition.

The first steps

I’m not an expert in mood boards at all, yet I’ve been having fun making them myself. For encouraging you to be — or continue to be — a real mood board maker, I’m going to share with you my journey in this adventure.

December mood board

It all started in December last year: I posted my first mood board on Instagram. I knew those collages were a trendy thing on social media so I gave it a try.

Maybe people would be interested in getting inspiration for their digital marketing or any other creative path’s strategies.

So I made my December mood board digitally, using the Adobe Spark app: I searched for a few images that represented my bet on the trends for the month in the digital sphere, selected the best, then added matching color codes to compound a nice color palette.

February mood board

After the holidays, the idea for another mood board came in early February. That was a great month for creative professionals out there to shape their strategies and hopefully get more engagement and sales.

Just think about the endless stream of content that could be made for Valentine’s Day!

So that was the result:

And what about March?

Then we stepped into March — don’t you think the last months have flown by? The fact is, March is full of holidays and very important dates in numerous fields and places.

Take this time to think about colors, pictures, fonts, graphics, words, textures, and materials that match this month’s main themes so you can boost your marketing strategies!

Let's check out the month’s most popular and idea-triggering events one by one:

National Women's History Month and International Women's Day make this month a deeply powerful time for women to stand up for one another and leave their contribution in this continuous fight for gender equality.

Purple, the symbolic color that reminds us of the history of women's rights movements, will be all around!

Luckily, green content will get increasingly popular due to the joyful and sparkling celebrations of Saint Patrick's Day!

Nature will also be a constant theme in March. World Wildlife Day, World Water Day, and Earth Hour will help drive more public awareness about the effects of human activity on the planet. Consider adding organic patterns and textures to your visuals!

The first day of Spring in the Northern hemisphere, on March 20th, will inspire you to let ideas flourish as flowers beautifully blossom in the backyards!

In addition, Holi's celebrations of love and happiness will fill up the last days of March with vibrant color explosions. Let them take over your digital marketing strategies!
